So proud of both kids, Kate for being one of only 9 students in the state to score perfect 75 out of 75 in state finals spelling contest, and Colin's school marching band making state finals their second year in a row! At band awards, Colin got the "most random enemy surges" award haha. Had a fun campus visit to IU in the fall with Kate. Tough losing my sister/Aunt Jenny to cancer in the spring, but even more grateful for time with the kids and seeing them grow in capability and confidence.
Another year flying by and a couple of high schoolers getting all grown up fast!
The last quarter of the year was a blur, with a highlight being a trip to Indy for the state marching band finals where Colin's band finished in 3rd place. They have grown up so fast! It was great to see them at Disney on Christmas Eve and looking forward to the rest of break back home together.
Fair traditions continued in the summer along with other home hobbies, but all too soon it was back to school and cross country season.
We wrapped up the trip with yet another morning hike, this time at Red Rock Canyon and the Calico Tanks Trail, which involved a lot of clambering up and around rocks leading to amazing views of the canyon. We laughed at this super loud talker lady who wouldn't stop yapping about, did you know German shepherds are actually very smart dogs. We also enjoyed hating on the stealth Kroger owned grocery stores everywhere that were terrible haha.
On our way to the Grand Canyon, we also saw a Joshua Tree Forest. Despite being spoiled by so many beautiful parks on the trip, the Grand Canyon lived up to its name!
A tasty burger and laughing at all the crazy people and slot machines everywhere, including in the entrance of a grocery store, made for a fun day exploring a little bit of the safer side of Las Vegas.
